About The Owners
Owners Mark and Beverly McGowan conceived the idea many years ago for the Double M WarHorse Ranch based on their love for each other and their love for horses - specifically the draft horse.
The couple has been involved with horses the majority of their lives. Mark spent time with horses when he was younger. Beverly was lucky enough as a young girl to have a Grandfather that raised both Quarter Horses and Appaloosas. Her Grandfather's great love for all things equine coupled with his love for his granddaughter led the pair to many shared hours surrounded by horses. Beverly fondly remembers when at the age of seven her Grandfather took her on a trip that would become the foundation for her future work as an equine owner and breeder. Little did he know the fateful trip to Grants Farm in St. Louis, Missouri, to see the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales would spark a lifelong love affair with these big, bold horses. Beverly says it was during that trip that she knew her life would be surrounded with these gentle giants.
The McGowans met at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway while working in the Indy and NASCAR race industry back in 1997. Mark was the Team Manager for Jack Clark's NRHA drag racing team at the time. Beverly was a Hospitality and Travel Manager for Jimmy Johnson's up and coming team. Beverly also had experience with Mark Martin during the time he was with Folgers Coffee. The couple fondly remembers the highlight of their early relationship was the month spent together working at the Indy 500 working for Greg Ray.
In love and ready to settle down to a less vagabond lifestyle after being on the road more than 40 weeks a year for several years, the McGowans made the choice to semi-retire and stay home. Suddenly their life changed even more when Beverly was diagnosed with the devastating disease of breast cancer. Today, Beverly considers herself very blessed to be cancer free and enjoying the lifestyle she loves with her husband and horses at the Double M WarHorse Ranch.
Their goal at Double M WarHorse Ranch is to facilitate the popularity of these wonderful equine creatures through their first-class draft horse stallions and quality breeding program.
